A THOUSAND CURES AND FLATLINED...INDIE WEDNESDAYS - AT STONES PLACE, 1255 QUEEN ST. W., WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 8:30PM

AUGUST 17TH, 2006 - TORONTO  - Sonic Deli Records presents another instalment of Indie Wednesdays, a monthly series. The next concert will take place at Stones Place (1255 Queen St W.) on Wednesday August 30th, 2006 and will feature the talents of local musicians, including Jim Armstrong, A Thousand Cures and Flatlined. Music begins at 9:00 p.m. and tickets are $8 at the door.

Scheduled Performances:

9:00 p.m. Jim Armstrong and The Sonic Deli Band - The core of The Sonic Deli is Peter James (Jim) Armstrong, a multi-talented singer-songwriter whose extensive catalogue of songs is resonantly honest and from the heart. Jim's compelling, infectious melodies and strong lyrical imagery are supported by solid grooves and are reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen, John Hiatt and Tom Petty. Since his start as a child prodigy drummer (touring from the age of 10), Jim has demonstrated his abilities as both an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and a talented producer. The Sonic Deli Band includes Wes Miller (bass guitar), Val Oddo (lead guitar), Rob Maurin (back-up vocals/rhythm guitar), Debbie Shessel (back-up vocals) & Alvin Lapp (drums).  www.sonicbids.com/JimArmstrongSonicDeliBand

10:30 p.m.  A Thousand Cures - They started writing and performing at the beginning of 2003 and released their debut recording, The White Top EP. As frequent headliners at venues such as Club 279 and Lee's Palace in Toronto, the band has become well known for consistently drawing large crowds and delivering high-energy performances. In January of 2006, they opened for BON JOVI, performing in front of over 15,000 at the Air Canada Center. "White Top Cadillac" was also selected for for two compilation albums through Sonicbids; Best of the Best Inland Northwest and The Best of DropHit 2006. www.athousandcures.com, www.myspace.com/athousandcures

11:30 p.m. Flatlined - Based out of the Niagara region, Flatlined is blending aggressive, melodic riffs with powerful but evocative vocals. In late 2005, Flatlined announced their signing of an exclusive record deal with Voodoo Records of Toronto. Since then, the band has won awards from Garageband.com, and Mixposure.com, and Supernova Entertainment's "People's Choice" award. Flatlined's explosive performances have earned them a well-deserved reputation for rocking the indie circuit in Canada and the US. The band consists of all five original founding members: Wes Stonos (Vocals), Jimi Battle (Guitar/Vocals), Carmen Celi (Guitar), Chris Fraser (Bass), and Dean Beaudoin (Drums). http://www.flatlinedband.com/, www.myspace.com/flatlinedband

Subject: SUMMER SHOWCASE: SONIC DELI RECORDS -

SPEAK Music, www.speak-music.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE/PLEASE UPDATE LISTINGS
SONIC DELI RECORDS SUMMER SHOWCASE 2005
-FRIDAY JULY 8TH AT HEALEY'S NIGHT CLUB, 9PM TORONTO

Toronto’s newest independent record label, Sonic Deli Records, will showcase artists from their new compilation CD, BROWN BAG LUNCH. This special music presentation will take place at Healey's Night Club (south-west corner of
Queen and Bathurst) on Friday, July 8th, at 9:00 p.m.

“Armstrong himself crafts serviceable, catchy, blue-collar rock; David Janes brings strong vocals and rock-star attitude to the party; Amer Diab's quirkier approach breaks the rawkin' mold (and mood) somewhat. So do tracks
recorded outside the Deli and parachuted in by reggae man Lazo and garage-band Crazy Babies.” (Howard Druckman, EYE Magazine)

BROWN BAG LUNCH was carefully packed together by Sonic Deli Records President, Andrea Poulis, Executive Director, Jon Long and Producer/Musician, Peter James Armstrong.

The remarkable story behind BROWN BAG LUNCH comes from the music producer himself, better known as Jim Armstrong. He has long struggled with severe
epilepsy since the age of six. One year ago, Jim underwent state-of-the-art brain surgery to reduce the intensity of his seizures and their frequency.

Three months later, he was at the soundboard working on his first CD compilation of eleven Toronto songwriters and performers. Released in April of this year, BROWN BAG LUNCH also marked the launch of the new independent
record label, Sonic Deli Records.

James explains, "It was hard to enjoy and work at the music I loved before the operation. I still have seizures but they've been reduced to weekly instead of daily, and with more control I am now able to lead a more full and productive life." Jim also notes that none of this would have been
possible if it weren't for the help and support of friends like Jon Long, from Long and McQuade Musical Instruments.

When asked why he was interested in this project, Jon Long explained that, "Jim is an incredibly talented musician. His music needed to heard, I had to help him and his friends." Jim has hundreds of songs, a collection of over thirteen years of co-writing with his partner Andrea. While some of Jim's songs are featured on this recording, Jim challenged himself to work with and produce other local writers who also needed to be heard.

Sonic Deli Records President Andrea Poulis says "Everyone connected to this CD project brings something valuable; talent, drive and artistic vision. Individually, we have all attained various levels of career achievement; together, we are a driving force of musical and marketing strengths."

This special collection of eighteen tracks features songwriting and performances by James Armstrong, Lazo, Shelley Jacobson, Jennifer Claveau, Violet Ray, Josh Hutchinson of The Entropy, dAVID jANES, plus many more. Complete showcase schedule and details will be announced shortly.

Admission is $6.00 in advance, $8.00 at the door. CD’s are $10 and will be available at the show for purchase. They are now available through
