As part of the band, Likewater, Jennifer and musical partner, Eric Newby are receiving the appreciation and adulation from roots/folk/pop audiences they have long deserved. Likewater was at this summer’s Mariposa Folk Festival and will be performing in September at the City Roots, City Wide Festival and Ear to the Ground here in Toronto. A prolific singer-songwriter, Jennifer and Likewater have a new CD release, entitled weightless on MapleMusic.com and Jennifer is featured as a solo artist on Sonic Deli’s debut release, Brown Bag Lunch. Her song, “Together We’re Alone” is a departure from the pop/folk sound of Likewater, but very much a “Claveau-crafted” gem. Produced by Sonic Deli Records’ Jim Armstrong, the singer self-describes this new sound as “Sade meets Dido.” “Together We’re Alone” moves away from rootsy guitar to the lush soundscape of strings and world beat instrumentation paired with poignant vocals and bittersweet words.  Those
of us who have been tracking dAVID jANES for the last several years are
having a self-satisfied moment now. dAVID jANES has arrived. With an incomparable
stage presence, solid musical and stylistic instincts, disarming charm and
a truly breathtaking force of will, 20-year-old dAVID jANES offers a new
face and welcome sound in the country/pop/rock landscape. The road to this point twists, of course. A graduate of the renowned Etobicoke School of the Arts, dAVID explored various creative outlets including musical theatre, the five-voice pop outfit 4th Dimension, and INDEX, an acoustic-pop band with which dAVID recorded the single “Hollywood.” A musical turning point for dAVID and a breakthrough in the recognition of his talents came as the charismatic and energetic front man of Running Against Radar (RAR), a Toronto-based alt-rock group that conquered the 2004 Emergenza search for the best unsigned band in Canada. RAR won Best Band, and dAVID’s inimitable showing was singled out for Best Singer and Best Stage Performance recognition. In late 2004, dAVID split with RAR in order to fine-tune who and what he was as an artist. What emerged was a focused, grounded and gifted country-rock vocalist and songwriter. dAVID had found his voice: straightforward emotion and insight, delivered in a sound that blends Jon Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Blue Rodeo. dAVID jANES’ first solo track, “Beautiful,” co-written with his producer/composer Jim Armstrong, is spotlighted on The Sonic Deli’s new collective CD Brown Bag Lunch, along with the hooky “Feeling Priceless,” the driving “Invisible,” and “Everything Takes Time,” a powerful Bon Jovi-style anthem. dAVID’s debut full-length solo CD This is Me (also produced and co-written by Armstrong for Sonic Deli) is expected in fall of 2005. dAVE is going solo with his first commercially released CD in the fall of 2005. But you can hear some of his new tracks on The Sonic Deli's BROWN BAG LUNCH; a collective CD about to be released in April 2005. BROWN BAG LUNCH offer's not only dAVE's first single "Beautiful" plus 3 more tunes, but also other songs by artists under The Sonic Deli label - includes Juno, CMT and NSAI award winners. Co-writing with his Sonic Deli producer-composer, Jim Armstrong and backed by a group of musicians with international credentials, dAVE's songs and writing abilities display a maturity beyond his years. The first time I heard Jennifer Claveau sing, the back of my throat began to ache and it took me a moment to recognize this emotional response for what it was; her beautifully crafted songs and exquisite vocals are heart-wrenching.
